The Fosthof was first mentioned in a document in 1563 as the property of the monastery administrator Caspar Euvelstätter.
In 1829, under the ownership of Franz Kreis, it became a tavern and was given the name “Zum Forsthof”.
In 1865, Andreas Ruder from Rollhof acquired the property and later passed it on to his son Franz. A shooting gallery, an ice cellar and a bowling alley were added to the original inn.
In 1912, he handed over the entire property to his son Franz Ruder, who was married to Katharina Schmalzbauer.
In 1942, Paul Ruder inherited his parents’ house and continued to run it together with his wife Maria, née Mühlbauer from Trautmannshofen. In 1947, he built a hall in place of the former bowling alley, to which the new inn “Zum Forsthof” was added in 1954.
In 1981, Paul Ruder handed over the entire property to his daughter Anneliese, who is married to Johann Reindl. Together they expanded the inn into a hotel in 1991/92 and gave it its current reputation.
Daughter Birgit and husband Markus Lehmeier have been co-owners of the company since 2017.
